[Suggestion / Observation] Please introduce realistic / more advanced armour system
New, WishlistPublic

Description

Armor armors (just including the American spelling as well for people who search.

This is a reflection to the current (which I understand is probably just a place-holder, so please take this as a suggestion post)

Please introduce a less generic armour system, so that armours could withstand more punishment (or less, depending on ammo type)

Like in the case of soft body armour:

  • Removable lining, vest and kevlar should be different entities.

Hit with small calibre:

  • Survivable
  • Blunt force trauma / bone fracture (depends on impact energy?)
  • Known down (depends on impact energy?)
  • Does not affect movement
  • Lightweight
  • Protection against shrapnel.

Rifle round:

  • No effect, practically same as being shot without armour.

Hard body armours:

  • Removable plates, carriers and plates should be different entities. This allows for features such as spalling / shrapnel to be introduced. (for example: Damaged vest, pristine plates, higher chance of shrapnel damage with high speed rounds)

Hit with small calibre, 45, 9mm, 22lr:

  • Entirely survivable, no damage at all. Should be able to withstand multiple rounds, like... 50+... but realistically it should be so negligible that it's not worth registering, but the vest would of course be damaged, making shrapnel a problem.

Close range buckshot:

  • Knock down, chance of fracture depending on armour condition.

Hit with shotgun slug shot:

  • Knock down / higher chance (than buck) of fracture depending on armour condition.

Hit with rifle round:

  • Small chance of knock down + shrapnel damage (depending on condition of vest itself / calibre), shrapnel damage should extend to other people too if they are standing close enough.

Hinders with movement, heavy weight, and.. perhaps harder to stay afloat?

Also a reason to introduce rare AP rounds against crazy bandit squads running around in full Level IV plates.

Should also stress again that a high level plate should be able to withstand multiple shots, like, a stupid number of shots, like 30-50, a damaged plate should still be able to stop rifle rounds, but perhaps it's lost so much of its structural integrity that fracture damage is highly likely even from small calibres (maybe not 22s).

An advanced armour system should reduce people's tendency to shoot on sight as well, especially those wearing big vests, since you know you might put 10 rounds into their chest and they'd get up and blow you away while you reload, and if you really have to kill them, you'd have to make sure your first round counts (leg / head), or they might just be bluffing with no plates (rare items of course) underneath, but also if 3 guys tries to hold me up wearing plate carriers, even if I'm armed, I'd have more of a reason to give up then to go into a gun fight.
