I bought DayZ a day a go, and after 6 or so hours of being able to connect to servers and play, the game crashed. I booted DayZ back up and since then no servers have been showing up. I made sure that it was on the Internet setting, re-installed DayZ,played around with the ping settings, and made sure my firewall was letting DayZ though. I'm very new to computer gaming so if someone could give me a tip that'd be really helpful

Same thing for me. Played for 3 hours and the game crashed. When i re booted i couldn't find any servers. I played around with filter settings, checked my firewall, re-installed the game even typed in a server address to direct connect and then it got stuck on waiting on host every single time. Joined my friends game through the steam tab - again got stuck on wait for host screen. waited an hour on one the rest i just kept trying. This was over 6 hours ago now and still no servers....
Did you put the ping settings to max? That happens to me but it is solved by restarting the game.
You could try to connect directly to DayZ servers until your problem is solved:
i have the same problem today i was playing dayz in the afternoon i close it for a while to do some other stuff on my pc and when i came back to play again after 2-3hours i open dayz but i was unable to find any servers my internet connection and my filter settings are ok i never change them but i tried the 999 max ping just for curiosity.
i restart steam, i restart many times dayz, i verify integridy cache, i re-install the game, i reboot my pc and my router but nothing change :/
my steam is updated game too.
(i didnt install or make any updates on my pc also i check my firewall too,
i cant either join a friend's game or to add the ip adress via remote says: wait for host for an eternity)
I am experiencing the same issue on both my machines I have verified game files and gone as far as updating my java my system specs are

found this in the forums and it fixed my issue
Default Reset Winsock in Windows 7 / 8
Winsock, is a technical specification that defines how Windows network software should access network services, especially TCP/IP.
Windows comes with Dynamic Link Library (DLL) called winsock.dll that implements the API and coordinates Windows programs and TCP/IP connections.
But sometimes Windows Sockets or Winsock may get corrupted as a result of whcih you may not be able to connect to the Internet. It may therefore need to be repaired.
Reset Winsock
To reset Winsock in Windows 7, open CMD as admin, type the following and hit Enter.
netsh winsock reset
If you are using IPv4, type netsh int ipv4 reset and hit Enter. If you use ipv6, type netsh int ipv6 reset and hit Enter.
If you'd like to generate a log file of the changes, append a logfile path to the above command, eg. netsh winsock reset c:\winsocklog.txt.
You will have to restart your computer.
Do remember to create a system restore point first.
Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 introduce new Windows Sockets programming elements. A set of high-speed networking extensions are available for increased networking performance with lower latency and jitter. You can read more about this on MSDN.
Incidentally, our freeware FixWin 2 for Windows 8, let you reset Windows Store Cache, in a click. Reset TCP/IP or Internet Protocol in Windows 7 may also interest you.
@Cdnmntman
I have tried all of the options listed and even the one you listed.
After an hour or two of research the only option I have not tried is reformatting Windows 7. And I don't think I'm going to go that far for a game.
I believe the problem is that my DayZ is not accessing the internet at all. No matter what I do with the filter, or remotely joining, I cannot access a server. All I get is a black screen with the logo and wait for host on the top left corner.
Not sure what the issue is here, but the Steam discussions are abundant with this issue.
same thing here. i played 2 days ago and all of a sudden when i tried to get on yesterday i could not see any servers at all. i tried to join off of a friend but it made me stuck at the waiting for host screen. i asked somebody did they know why it was doing this and they suggested that i may have been banned. if that is the case i dont know why i am banned from dayz i dont use hacks and dont know how to anyway i am semi new to pc gaming. having been gaming on pc for close to 5 months or more now. please somebody help us this is very frustrating that i cant play the game i have most hours logged in.
problem solved.
Restart your steam and make the update of dayZ its about 1.4mb
after that run the game and everything its ok!
Hey everyone,
As jimiss mentions, the fix should be the following:
- Download the latest patch for DayZ.
- Restart your pc and Steam.
- Launch DayZ.
If this does not solve the problem, please submit seperate tickets for your issues.
Thanks,
JStewart
