Performance is poor on AMD rigs.
Need More Info, LowPublic

Description

Performance is horrible on an amd rig with a 7850 paired with an FX 8350. It drops to almost 10-20 FPS when i run into a city. {F28411} {F28412} {F28413} {F28414} {F28415} {F28416} {F28417} {F28418} {F28419} {F28420} {F28421} {F28422} {F28423} {F28424} {F28425} {F28426} {F28427} {F28428} {F28429} {F28430} {F28431} {F28432} {F28433} {F28434} {F28435} {F28436}

Please post a dxdiag log for the developers to investigate.

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the run menu.
  2. Type in 'dxdiag' to the run menu and hit Enter key.
  3. Hit 'Run 64-bit DxDiag' button.
  4. Hit 'Save All Information...' once the dxdiag loading bar has ended.

Upload the log using the 'Upload File' tool on this page.

I am going to upload my AMD rig as well hoping it will help. I am having the same issue with a 680 4GB FTW+ / 8 - core AMD 8350 / 16GB DDR3

Guess it's the CPU that does it. Running 'fine'(as in playable, no freezes, the usual yeno.) on my 7970 and i5 4670k.

Same problem here: (20-25fps in woods, 10-15fps in towns), where as with the same settings my DayZ Arma2 mod (60-80fps in woods, 25-35fps in towns) runs superb. My specs:

AMD FX-8350 @4.5GHz, Transcend aXeRAM 8GB @2.33GHz, Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 Boost @1.0/1.45GHz, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, Samsung SSD 830 Series 128GB, WD Red 2TB

Playing at a 1680x1050 resolution

I went through all the usual optimizations: disabling postprocessing, editing cfg files (max frames ahead, draw distance...)

No matter what changes I made (ingame or editing cfg files) performance stays the same.

I'm also uploading dxdiag log

Id say performance is poor on everything

I'm running 2 AMD 7950 3Gb GDDR5 in crossfire with latest drivers. Not seeing FPS drop as low as stated, only been to some towns with a dozen buildings. Set everything to Very High 1920 x 1080.

I'll try to copy dxdiag log files tonight when I get home.

AMD FX-6300
Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB
Sapphire 7770
Western Digital 500GB
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0

I don't see a FPS drop anywhere as far as I can notice. I will be trying to get a dxdiag log later today/tonight.

I personally am running a slightly older AMD set up and am having no major issuse with my settings set to high. I would rate my performance as fair to good at these settings and really only have an issue when attempting to use HD settings. I have uploaded my DXdaig as a refernce point for some of the other users having issues on newer machines. I might also suggest comparing the processor architecture for these users as I have had many experiences with friends using bulldozer and piledriver cores from late 2011 to early 2013 in FX series experiencing horrible framerate issues.

Alos, just from my cursory review of the other DX texts, most of the other users are listing the FX-8000 series, which if not the new Vishera core for these, supports the core architecture problem I mentioned. AMD was aware of this and thus why they pushed to revise to the Vishera cores.

I am running a 5700 ATI Radeon, it seems disabling post processing immensely improves framerate, if your video card cannot efficiently work with post processing and heavy particle effects, turning that off may work extremely well.

I am experiencing slight frame drop, but nothing severe. I'm running the game at 1080p normal settings, averaging around 50fps, in cities the frame rate drops to around 40fps.

AMD FX-8350 @ 4.4GHz
XFX HD7770 1GB
16GB GSKiLL RAM @ 1600Mhz
250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD

i cant go past normal settings without going to 28 or less fps in citys but im ok in small towns unless there are alot of players in the area. My specs are AMD FX(tm)-6120 Six-Core Processor 6 CPUs, 3.5GHz with a AMD Radeon HD 7850 graphics card and 10 gb of RAM

Ok,so,i understand this is alpha stage, but my problem is really weird. My specs are
AMD FX 8350 3.5GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660-TI
8GB RAM Corsair Vengeance
Western Digital Black 1TB 7200 RPM

I get 25-35 Fps in big cities on very high settings, the weird part is i get the same Fps on low settings in big sities. My Cpu also uses only 25% and it never goes higher. If anyone could shed some light on this,it would be great. I have also submitted my Dxdiag.

Uploaded my DxDiag. I suggest others do the same.

I have some issues too with lag,

AMD FX 8150 3.6GHz
Sapphire 7970 3GB
16GB Crucial RAM
128GB SSD w/ 3TB Seagate

I have the same issue. Running version 0.30.113860. I have the latest drivers for my card.

Why is this still marked with "Need more info"? got plenty of dxdiag reports there...

Can we please get the status changed on this... It is still need more info! We have uploaded our DXDIAGS in which it would be awesome to hear back if we need to upload anything else or if these will help a lot.

I'm have the same problem 15 or so fps in cities and 25-30 fps in the forest also consistent 1 sec or so freezing like lag spikes. This happens also in the mod but not any other games like bf4 that I can run ultra and get 60fps 99% of the time.
system specs-

HDD- 1tb western ditgial caviar black
case- phantom 410
psu- corsair cx600
mother board - gigabyte fx990ga ud3

Uploaded my dxdiag report as I'm experiencing very bad framerate no matter where and I'm not even maxing out the settings.

my game runs smooth as butter on my AMD rig
CPU - AMD 8350 4.0ghz
GPU - HD 7870 (have 2 but disabled xfire)
16gb RAM
game installed on regular HDD - not SSD
also, everything maxed except for Anti aliasing

I have AMD 7870 2GB and the performance in Cherno and other cities is awful... In the new Cherno area it is unplayable...combine that and melee hit detection it is impossible to play on locations like new Cherno.

Also uploaded dxdiag

Seriously I dont think this is an AMD specific issue. I have a GTX 780 TI and run the 3D interface/monitor resolution at 1080p and I get fps of about 30 when in larger cities. I would definitely expect more! Also I monitored my GPU/CPU load and it seems DayZ is making good use of my 4 cores (~ 25% use across all cores) while my GPU was usually maxed out.
Specs are:
i7-4770k@stock
GTX 780 TI OC
16GB DDR3-2166
2xSAMSUNG 840 PRO 256GB RAID0
Attached my DxDiag.

@G-wok: Specify smooth as butter in terms of fps when in a larger city. Also what is your resolution?

VidKo added a comment.Dec 23 2013, 4:46 PM

In DayZ mod for Arma2 my GPU is utilized 99%, in DayZ Standalone it's utilized 55% max. That could be the problem!

My performance is fine.

My performance feels fine, although my fps drops to around 30-40 around cherno, But that's to be expected...

RIG:
i7 2700k @stock 3.5ghz
Gigabyte HD7970 OC 1k
Corsaire DDR3 1866
game is installed on HDD

I am assuming those 3 who voted NO have AMD powered rigs and are getting 40+ FPS consistently?

I have an AMD as well and I have to play on low settings. Normal works semi well, but when running next to another player I would fall behind due to a little lag. Anything higher than normal settings creates a lot of lag. I also noticed random lag spikes when running that often cause you to glitch through a wall or fence.

Performance issues here also.
My rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 @ 4.0Ghz
AMD Radeon R9280X
Kingston 8GB 2x4 1333Mhz
HDD X2 500GB

Game is smooth most of the time but sometimes I suffer frame drops (about 10 sec) and then it goes up to 50 (normal frame rate).

For me the poor perfomance seems to occur because of two things:

  1. Everything in the direction I am looking seems to be rendering, even though I cannot actually see it. Looking into a wall inside a house in the direction of a city gives 20FPS. Looking into the other wall that is towards the sea gives 60-70FPS. This is very obvious when checking out the big new apartment buildings.
  1. The GPU and CPU are not used fully. I realise that if one of them is a bottleneck the other may not be able to use 100%, but in all Arma games the usage of the CPU and GPU are both well under 100%. For me the GPU is around 70% and the CPU is around 60% in DayZ standalone.

My system:
AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.4GHz
nVidia Geforce GTX660
16GB RAM + SSD.

AMD FX-8350, no performance problems.

Might try unparking CPU cores. I got a 15 FPS boost when I did. Windows 7/8 has power saver software that disables cores unless they are specifically requested by an application. Check this link:

http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility

I have found by disabling anti aliasing by setting it to none you can get 10-20fps more. This game is in alpha stage so its not optimized. It doesn't matter what hardware your running amd, nvidia, or intel everyone is getting the same results. Optimization is one of the last things you do when developing a game so its unlikely to improve much until at least beta stage.

I always have AA off, never put that in an Alpha lol.

Turn all post processing and the to low. I'm running a 7950 + i5 3570k OC'd and I'm having no performance issues.

I have a "Lenovo G770" with 8GB of RAM and an i5 processor and I get horribly bad framerates. With everything on "Very Low - Low" I get 30 FPS on shore, 10-20 FPS in cities and in the woods.

This is very odd, because my PC runs ARMA 3 on HIGH, with sight 1800.
In ARMA 3 I get 35-45 FPS everywhere except over water, there I get 20-25 FPS.

-Will DayZ better it's performance/engine in future?

I5 3570k at 4ghz
8gb ddr3 1333
his hd 7950 iceq boost 3gddr5
his hd 7950 iceq boost 3gddr5

i get better performance with one card. when using the 2 i get tearing and some trees dont apear. each patch somethins is diferent with my crossfire in dayz but i leave it off.

60+ in forest
25-35 in towns

It's been 3-4 weeks and we ain't getting any replies, all those diag files and you still need more info?

Can someone just close this tread it has turned into nothing but everyone talking about their hardware and the poor performance they get. When the developers have stated that this would happen with the alpha and is already aware of the problem.

Hey folks, a friend of mine lately experienced super low FPS in CS:GO
He also had an AMD FX8350 CPU which caused this issue in combination with an outdated BIOS for his ASUS mainboard. After he had updated his BIOS he could play the game with over 200 FPS instead of former 10FPS :D I hope this maybe a solution for some of you... but honestly I don't believe in it, as many and myself included are experiencing this poor performance. And as said, I also expect the graphics optimization coming later on.

Hello,

I have uploaded a file "wykydtronik-DxDiag.txt" containing my system information. I am running 2x XFX R9 290X reference cards in CrossfireX. I would be happy to provide information and statistics that can benefit AMD pwners.

Best regards,
Wykydtronik
