Please bring back the shift-click marker placement functionality of the map used in arma. While I have no problems with military map reading and orienteering skills, I strongly feel a lot of others may not and the ability for them to shift-click on say chernogorsk and place a marker there, then be able to find it and estimate distance and direction may enable more people with less military training the ability to easier navigate within the game. doing so would further enable players of different age groups and backgrounds to readily enjoy the game. for those of us with the acquired skillset of orienteering, we don't have to use it.

It's a map, it's not rocket science - I learned how to read a map in primary school.
I think this should be enabled for those with a GPS but not for the base map, it's easy enough as it is.
Yes, please do not report opinions and wishes, only bugs. There is a forum for wishes and opinions :D
rossums, exactly why I pointed out, we wouldn't have to use it. however as I stated, not everyone has that skillset that we do. adds more playability to those who lack them, the poor kids these days are barely learning how to write in primary school, and definetly not reading maps, they don't have buttons or touch screens.
-Sergio (noted) , hicks16: dandy, and yet I love how you felt the desire to copy and add to it, ill post it there as well then, however id love to point out your post was completely pointless trolling, rewording someone elses post, and I also notice that the forums moderator listed above, didn't complain, but it was 2 joes. calm down, breathe, relax and go play the game. Your not the forums police around here.
Well this idea would make sense if the player at least has a radio or GPS and a map.
Also players should only see new markers (since they listening) and not all of them.
Having no marker makes it much more realistic and fun, when I first played DayZ Mod I was on a server that had no marker and after a long while when I joined a server that had markers it was too easy to get to places.
Many aspects of the game are based on elements of real-world survival. Most likely, not being able to set a way point is intended...and I hope they leave it that way.
Map reading is a good skill to have anyway. Why not learn it in a game instead of getting lost in the middle of nowhere in real life?
No no no no NO!! If they start to dumb down the game for the little kids and put this back in, I will ask for a refund and go play the mod instead.
As other users have pointed out, this is more of a request than a bug report and for that reason I'm going to close it.
If you'd like to discuss your suggestion further please visit the DayZ Forums:

Thank you all for posting feedback, hopefully it can be discussed in a more.. constructive manner on the forums :)
