When the axe is raised the hitbox is to the side.
New, WishlistPublic

Description

So when you raise your axe by pressing space the hitbox is on the right where the axe looks like it is hitting. I don't know if this is a bug or if it's meant to do this, but it doesn't hurt to report it.

As described. When raising axe to use in melee, the direction of the attack is approx 50% off to the right. However, when walking forward the attack is straight.

Observed same behavior with wood axe.

I have this problem as well. A simple fix is to hit the space bar which toggles raising your weapon. The ax and other weapons will swing normally if they are in the lowered position. This can be very annoying, because to have your flashlight shine straight ahead you need it raised, but your ax will not swing forward in this position.

Same problem here :)

I can confirm this.

That's not a hitbox. It's the swing of the axe that goes to the right, not the players hitbox.

Has gotten me killed a few times. Especially annoying when I cant even switch to my ax in the first &&!#$@$ place...

Your not meant to use weapons when raised I think its a part of the not yet implemented blocking system.

Remember when rocket said he wants melee combat to be like chivalry?!

..Because its not a melee weapon.

The attack is a bug as blocking hasn't been implemented properly yet.. At the moment it's just an animation.

This problem is fixed by setting a button to ready / unready weapons. I use 3rd mouse button to set for this initiative.

The issue is there are 2 stage of readiness .. holding weapon in hands and actually "prepared holding", there is also using right mouse for sight view.

It would be nicce however if you didn't have a separate button to "undo" the left click "nofire" prep stage. Or simply remove the capability from the mouse at all because it does cause problems.

You can also "glitch yourself out of this by switching weapons from melee to ranged fire. But it's fickle. Like a "glitch" fixing a poorly designed keyboard/mouse mapping issue.
