[RESOLVED] Looking through optics of deployed weapon makes the player's mouse cursor ignore vertical movement
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

RESOLVED - https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/140837-development-branch-changelog/?view=findpost&p=3020254

The player can order subordinate units to interact (move to, get it, attack etc) with desired places/objects by pointing the mouse cursor/crosshair/centre of the screen at that place/object.
This behaviour is consistent, and can be generally used when looking through optics (including vehicle optics).

OBS:
When the player has their weapon deployed and is looking through optics, the mouse cursor becomes restricted to the X/Y (left/right) plane of the deployed weapon. All up/down motion is ignored, with the cursor moving vertically off the aimpoint/centre of the screen to remain fixed on the deployed weapon's X/Y plane.

EXP:
The mouse cursor should always behave in the same way, following the aimpoint/centre of the screen. This behaviour can be observed when looking through optics, while the weapon is not deployed.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. In mission editor, place the player as a unit with a bipod weapon (for example a BLUFOR NATO Autorifleman). To make bug most apparent, the player's unit should be located on flat ground, facing some terrain or objects that are above the plane of the local ground (for example, part way up a ridge, facing the hill on the opposite side of valley)
  2. Place a subordinate soldier of any type near the player unit.
  3. Preview mission. Turn on crosshair in game options.
  4. Go prone.
  5. Switch to optics.
  6. Press F2 to select your subordinate unit. A cursor appears on screen. Move the mouse around, noticing the cursor follows the weapon aimpoint (centre of the screen).
  7. Deploy weapon. Notice mouse cursor no longer follows the centre of the screen, and does not move off the plane in which the weapon is deployed (dictated by terrain slope).
  8. Switch out of optics mode. Note mouse cursor again follows the centre of the screen as expected.

The return value of the cursorTarget script command is also affected by this command.
