Game/AI commander loops 'Get in Vehicle' command on disabled weapon

Description

When AI is commanding a group, including the player, the commander will not recognize a disabled gun emplacement (HMG or Mortar for example) as being destroyed and unusable and will sometimes get stuck in a loop of commanding subordinates to 'Get in that vehicle', referencing the gun emplacement which is unusable. The loop continues for some time and occasionally the subordinate will respond "no can do" or "negative", as he will be unable to perform the action. Sometimes the player will be ordered to man the weapon.

Steps To Reproduce

Put a group on the map with a static emplacement (MG or Mortar), either manned or empty, in the immediate area.
It doesn't have to be in the same group.
Add some enemies and have them attack the emplacement.
Wait until the enemy damages or destroys the weapon.
When under heavy fire, the commander begins ordering subordinates to use the destroyed weapon over and over again.

However we were not able to reproduce this situation. Would it be possible that you send us a repro mission that will help us to reproduce this and find out what might be the problem?

I found repro, but it requires more conditions than the original post.

  • Static weapon must be grouped with infantry group.
  • Group must have a distant move waypoint (AI commander seems to consider the static gun as transport)
  • After gunner gets killed, AI commander must give order to subordinate to "get in gunner" while gun is functional, then the gun gets completely destroyed prior to the new gunner getting in.

AI Issues:

  • foolish AI commander seems to consider the static gun as transport.
  • stubborn AI commander does not reassess if assigned vehicle is fit for use once he has made his decision.

Repro:

  1. In 2d mission editor, open the attached mission "27366_getInDestroyedStatic.Stratis"
  2. Preview mission.
  3. If bug does not occur, restart mission.

Related to #17904, because of infinite loop of AI leader issuing bad orders.
