The issue that's bothering me is the AI tendency to run over friendly troops when moving. Also if not following a road the AI tends to hit trees and rocks, sometimes hard enough to cause injury to occupants and damage to vehicle, and then often takes a long time to figure out what happened and go around the object.

Have people standing in front and to the side of vehicle and then give move order that requires turn in that direction. And for the second part just give a order to go off road in wooded area.
