Steps To Reproduce
  1. Get an empty backpack and put another empty backpack in it.
  2. Kill an enemy with backpack and open its inventory.
  3. Put one empty backpack from inside of your backpack to ground (right-click on its icon in contents space) => you have empty backpack now. OK.
  4. Rightclick on deadman's backpack to replace your backpack with this one. => You now have enemy's backpack, AND enemy still has this backpack! In fact, they work as references like uniforms in Issue 24001. Items shared between all "references" of this backpack.
  5. Get deadman's backpack as many times as your patience allows, it will still be there.
  6. Put some items in copied backpack => items appeared in all instances, all "references" of backpack. They all share same items. If some unit takes such backpack and removes item from it, all instances of backpack lose that item. (kind of teleporting).
  7. If in campaign, returning car loaded with such backpacks with items from scouting mission, on loading camp armory receives full copies (real objects) of all backpacks and all items, multiplied by amount of "copied" backpacks by player. Combined with Issue 23999 can produce virtually unlimited amount of ammunition.

Might be related to this issue, I've had multiple guns disappear when dragging them from my weapon slot to my backpack since the patch. Will try to report back with more details after trying to reproduce the bug.

Hello, i'm unable to put backpacks into another backpack on the new Stable update. Could you please check if the issue is still present? Thank you.

Hello, Adam. Double-checked it in 1.44.130654, the issue is still present. To put backpack into another backpack you need to drag-n-drop backpack from ground (or any container) to your backpack space, not your backpack inventory slot (just like in the video I provided link for; though the video was recorded yesterday in 1.42.130340, I recheked it before even posting Issue). Hope that helps.

I'm still unable to place a backpack into another one. Are you by any chance running any mods?

1.44.130654
I had only one mod, and it was disabled.
I ran game as "Play unmodded" from launcher.
I completely removed my only mod and ran the game again ("Play").

All three times I was able to reproduce issue. Well, I don't know what to do now.

Seems like it has nothing to do with placing backpack into another backpack.
'New' steps to reproduce:

  1. Get an empty backpack.
  2. Kill an enemy with backpack and open its inventory.
  3. Put your empty backpack to the ground while viewing deadman's inventory. Close inventory.
  4. Get another empty backpack somewhere else.
  5. Open deadman's inventory again. Now situation is the same as after unloading backpack from backpack in previous repro-list (as after 3).
  6. Rightclick on deadman's backpack to replace your backpack with this one. => You now have enemy's backpack, AND enemy still has this backpack.

Adam, can you please take a look at this issue again.
Thanks.

PS. Should I update steps to reproduce field in issue description?

Aaaand you even don't need two backpacks. I reproduced issue this way:

  1. Get an empty backpack.
  2. Kill an enemy with backpack and open its inventory.
  3. Put your empty backpack to the ground while viewing deadman's inventory.
  4. Rightclick on deadman's backpack to move it to your backpack slot. => You now have enemy's backpack, AND enemy still has this backpack.

Could not reproduce in 1.46.131127.
