Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder to analyze your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package, please?
Archive smaller than 5000 KB can be attached directly to the ticket. For bigger archives, please use some free sharing service and post link here.
How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.
Thank you.
Hi Adam. Glad to see someone on the case :)
I may be reading/doing something wrong here, but I only have the .rpt-crash files in the specified folder. There aren't any bidmp or mdmp files as far as I can see.
Thank you.
In need of better ideas I've deleted the game, and am re-installing it right now. Will give it a go, and further re-install GPU drivers afterwards if the first has no effect. I'd really like to play :)
I stumbled upon some information when reading the error reports (.rpt-files), since re-installing the game as well as installing GPU-drivers didn't do anything. Here it is:
22:36:15 DX11 - Initializing DX11 engine.
22:36:15 DX11 - Using DXGI adapter 0 (detected in config).
22:36:15 DX11 - Using DXGI adapter 0.
22:36:15 - adapter description : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
22:36:15 - adapter vendor ID : 32902
22:36:15 - adapter device ID : 1046
22:36:15 - adapter subsys ID : 312283203
22:36:15 - adapter revision : 6
22:36:16 - dedicated video memory : 503316480
22:36:16 - dedicated system memory : 0
22:36:16 - shared system memory : 1375731712
22:36:16 VRAM is too small (402653184), we need at least 536870912.
I'm 100 % sure ArmA is set to run with the dedicated GPU instead of the on-board, and the launcher is as well. I've checked with the nVidia control tools to see if it thinks ArmA is utilizing it, and it does. I'm very confused - tried running it manually as administrator and out of steam without any luck.
Now, I tried messing with the Arma CFG file in My Documents > ArmA 3 > arma.cfg
More specically, first I tried altering
detectedAdapterId=0;
to
detectedAdapterId=1;
Didn't help:
22:51:29 DX11 - Initializing DX11 engine.
22:51:29 DX11 - DXGI adapter 1 detected in config does not match current adapter with this ID.
22:51:29 DX11 - Detecting best GPU adapter.
22:51:31 DX11 - Detected best GPU adapter 0 : "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600", benchmark result = 215.216, level coef = 2, total result = 430.433
22:51:31 DX11 - Using DXGI adapter 0.
22:51:31 - adapter description : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
22:51:31 - adapter vendor ID : 32902
22:51:31 - adapter device ID : 1046
22:51:31 - adapter subsys ID : 312283203
22:51:31 - adapter revision : 6
22:51:31 - dedicated video memory : 503316480
22:51:31 - dedicated system memory : 0
22:51:31 - shared system memory : 1375731712
22:51:31 VRAM is too small (402653184), we need at least 536870912.
And then I left it at 1, and tried altering
forcedAdapterId=-1;
to
forcedAdapterId=1;
And I got the following:
22:54:24 DX11 - Initializing DX11 engine.
22:54:24 DX11 - Using DXGI adapter 1 forced by config.
22:54:24 DX11 - Using DXGI adapter 1.
22:54:24 - adapter description : NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M
22:54:24 - adapter vendor ID : 4318
22:54:24 - adapter device ID : 4068
22:54:24 - adapter subsys ID : 312283203
22:54:24 - adapter revision : 161
22:54:24 - dedicated video memory : 3221225472
22:54:24 - dedicated system memory : 0
22:54:24 - shared system memory : 1073676288
22:54:24 No monitor found!
22:54:24 DX11 error : Failed to initialize DXGI output. : E_FAIL
Both reports are uploaded.
Still not working. Forcing it to use the GT 750M in the user config file leaves me with ArmA running in the background, but with no way to bring it up.
Tried using only my laptops screen, as well as disabling the laptop screen and using external screen / screens.
Still not working in any way. Tried a lot of other games without any trouble what so ever. Validated the game files once more. Trying to opt in to the DEV-branch now to see if anything happens.
.rar-file contains error from dev-branch. It seems the bidmp and mdmp-files were created for this instance as well. Stayed in the lobby, and could press okay before ArmA crashed. This time, an error message from Windows about ArmA crashing was present as well.
arma3_2015-04-14_18-07-34
After switching back to 1.42 from the dev, I tried running the game in windowed mode. It seems to be working fine and has done so for >10 minutes now, but still the DirectX in the .rpt-file seems to assign the Intel 4600 instead of my GT 750m.
Windows, or rather nVidias own monitor, seems to think that the dedicated GPU is handling ArmA as well as the launcher.
Could really use some backup by now :)
Issue seems to be fixed. Not sure what made the difference. Tried running windowed and afterwards going full-screen while in game without any problems. Later clicked "Restore default settings" inside the Basic tab of the ArmA 3 Launcher. Will report back if another situation arises. Will notify other user as well about it working with this / these steps.
