I believe you may already know about this but feel it necessary to impress upon you the utter uselessness of the multiplayer server browser.

In short, when the multiplayer server list loads for the first time it populates. However, if you then try to join a server the "conection failed" message comes up.

I can see what is happening, as the internet is then down for any device trying to use it (although it happens if just one device is using it). You cannot join a server or indeed refresh the list again - the internet is dead.

What i have to do is just stare at the multiplayer list for at least a minute, as the internet starts to come back. After at least a minute has expired, the internet has generally recovered and i can join a server.

From looking at the MANY postings about this online i have tried numerous things including:-

but to no avail.
I have also dropped my "max server to ping" in steam settings to 250 which is the lowest setting.
And lots more...

Apparently the problem is due to the NAT table becomming flooded on my internet router (this may or may not be true - perhaps something about router DoS protection also?). The solution that seems to work for people is to purchase a new router. However, i, like many thousands of others, are signed up with BT and have a BT HomeHub router - a new/latest one. I cannot buy another router as if you do they refuse to support you - their first question being "do you have a BT HomeHub". If your answer is "no" then you're effectively told to get lost.

I cannot change the ISP because the bill payer does not want to. Believe me, i would love to.

So back on topic, this is the only game i have which managed to achieve total internet blackout whilst in this sodding multiplayer server list.

Any chance of getting this fixed please or some workaround that actually works?

Although there are some annoying aspects of the game such as getting stuck (and killed) in scenery and the odd glitch or two i can honestly say that the game itself is fantastic. What a shame the interface won't let me play it.
