Speed indicator of Helicopters do not take perpendicular motion into account
New, WishlistPublic

Description

The top left speed indicator of vehicles do not take all X, Y and Z motion into account.

The speed indicator is an excellent measurement of a number of things:

  1. Motion
  2. Distance timing
  3. Impact damage
  4. Collision danger
  5. Helicopter landing aid

In helicopters, these can be applied not only to forward/backward motion, but also perpendicular side to side motion, with benefit.

OK if ascension / descension is not counted as it is displayed in realtime through the separate altitude meter, and would only confuse the pilot. But side to side motion does not count, only forward/backward motion, and in helicopters this does not make any sense.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Get into a flying helicopter.
  2. Activate Auto-Hover.
  3. Tilt rotor left / right with A / D keys.
  4. Gain perpendicular motion.
  5. Speed indicator always says 0 km/h.

Expected result:

  1. Speed indicator accurately measures the helicopter's velocity in the horizontal plane.

This was attempted with the BLUFOR Hummingbird.
