Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When starting the game, it loads up to the part where it says "Loading profile options" and then Windows reports it has stopped working.

Attempts to fix the problem include a full reinstall, deleting my profile, installing new graphics card drivers and cleaning said drivers before reinstalling them. {F22088} {F22089} {F22090}

Nope, all files successfully validated, problem still remains.

Please try use -nobenchmark command line option.
Right click on Arma III in your Steam Library>Properties>Set launch options

Added -nobenchmark to launch options.
Unfortunately it's still crashing as usual.

Do you have PhysX drivers installed? Did you try other DX11 games?

PhysX drivers come with the Nvidia graphics drivers (which I have updated to the latest version), don't they? Installed PhysX system software just in case, no change.

The only other DX11 game I've been playing is Civilization V, which has been running flawlessly.

Is HD4000 your primary graphic card for games? In dxdiag is like graphic card Intel HD4000. Maybe it can be some issue between switching graphic cards.

The main card is a GeForce GT 635M.
Forcing the "high performance Nvidia processor" on from the global settings of the Nvidia control panel had the result of Steam flashing the "Preparing to launch Arma 3" window for a short moment and then just not launching the game, without any error message.

Can you please attach arma3.cfg file? c:\Users\**\Documents\Arma 3\

Can you please try disable one graphic card and try start game with one graphic card? It can be issue between switch HD4000 and GT635M.

Thank you.

Attached Arma3.cfg from My Documents in all it's barren glory.

Disabling HD4000 from the device manager had no effect. Curiously, though, disabling it makes the Nvidia control panel complain that I don't have an Nvidia GPU attached to the display. I re-enabled HD4000 and disabled the GT635M just in case the names were swapped for some reason, but the results were identical.

So, what exacly happens at that specific point in the loading that could cause a graphics card-switching crash?

Not that it really matters, since disabling the secondary display adapter does nothing.

Mass closing ancient tickets with no activity this year; assume fixed or too trivial etc.

If this issue is still relevant in current dev build, please create a new ticket referencing this one and request for it to be re-opened.
