Helicopter Physics are still off
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

-The helicopters accelerate way too fast
-The top speed on the ghosthawk is on par with the cruising speed of a UH-60 which is good.
-wind resistance, settling with power are absent.
-the mushing of control at high speed is strange.
-The tail kicks up when performing a high bank turn, almost always pointing your nose down into the ground in game. This doesn't happen so exaggeratedly IRL.

  • No dissymmetry of lift modeled.

-The actual CG of the helicopter is off as well. I don't have knowlege of the current formula that's used but my guess is

-Even though the CG of the aircraft is in the center of the cabin below the rotor mast, the center of thrust is from the rotors, which are higher than the center of mass, so when I tilt forward or aft the helicopter(Arma3) rotor mast moves as if the center of thrust is from the CG. Or the other way around, hard to tell

-The helicopters need more of the feeling of momentum and gravity, I feel like I'm flying a cardboard plane.

Additional Information

I'm a CFII with expierence in R22's, MD500's and Firehawks. I know what I'm talking about.

I'm a bit spoiled with DCS black shark and uh-1h huey. But it needs to be more challenging and realistic flying helicopters in this game, if it were easy everyone would be able to do it.

Downvoted. ArmA is not Flight Simulator, so everyone should be able to pilot helicopters if they like them.
