Supercavitating rounds, an actual tech begin, imagine 2035. Watch vids...
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Supercavitating rounds is becoming truth, normally will be a norm for 2035! Supercavitating rounds permit high-speed in water, a bulb of steam is created around the surface of the round.

This ticket is about Multi-Environment Ammunitions ( MEA ).

Actually in the game it's not too much complicated to implement it, parameters has to be changed for penetration in the water, not a so big work. MEA bring possibilities of ship defense against divers, neutralise mines and torpedos, sniper with long range engagement underwater against divers and antimaterial, and fire from water to air and air to water. Many calibers exist. Need real data, maybe future improvements?

A new type of rounds for us in 2013, a norm for 2035's armies.

Additional Information

Actual companies start to make supercavitating rounds with multi-environment ( air to water, water to air ). Real supercavitating rounds seem to be more powerfull than ingame.

Watch all videos, there's many applications:

Warning: Many on this forum automatically downvote anything about future technology because they wish the game was in the past. But I looked into it, and this tech actually exists today, and torpedos/bullets have already been successfully tested that utilize this tech. In fact, they're currently working on making submarines that can do this. Upvoted due to realism.

Nope, these are already ingame. The multipurpose rounds for the SDAR are supercavitating.

Look at vid 2, not sure that it's the same type of rounds. Look at the plate of steel, it's passing through, and the power compared to the 5.56 ingame.

So, you want more powerful underwater rounds?

Look at the vids, actually there's many calibers. Need real data, but it's multi environement, and so much powerfull. In 2035, will be surely equal or a little more better.

Actual real rounds are much more accurate than in A3, in and out of water.

SDAR uses modern tech, meaning darts. Supercav rounds are the same size as normal 5.56 so they'd have 30 round clip sizes. SDAR doesn't.

The original weapon used to design SDAR isn't for underwater and it's a 7.62. So yes maybe possible to clip 30 rounds in magazine.

A post was assigned : Divers with SDAR should switch to STANAG on land.

I think that's not a good idea because the game is in 2035 so MEA will improved and divers are used nears the coast, MEA is the best solution.
