Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The epic feeling of crash landing your helicopter after your tail rotor has been shot out is not present currently and flying feels very restricted and lackluster.

@twistking
Did your comment ADD anything useful or was it just YET ANOTHER self-serving attempt to cover up SPAMING when the “VOTE UP” would have done exactly the SAME thing as “I agree.” AND without the need for the extremely vague loosely related thread link!

@Wilks
The objective would be NOT to fly over places with AA or to have a false reliance on countermeasures which are by NO means anywhere close to 100% effective in real life.

The AI can shoot down my chopper from 700+ meters without any issues.

well, i thought the problem was, that a hit is always 100% damage, while it would be desirable, that there was a minor change of the heli surviving a hit so that an emergency landing would still be possible.
while i would agree to this, i don't think that range of anti-air should be less. in reality range is even higher and the enemies firing from longer ranges gives you more time to respond, which is good for gameplay.

perhaps the poster should clarify, what he had in mind.

@b101uk: sorry. i did not want to spam. i thought the ticket might be of real interest, because it is about heli flying in general... to some extend.

I understand for the realism aspect of the game the AA makes sense right, but this is a combat simulator and some treat it more as a game. If you look at any arma 2 realism units you will see that the enemy does not use lock on AA providing an engaging experience for pilots because it allows them to give cas without a great risk if they are a great pilot, even if the pilot eventually gets hit it is even more engaging with having parts of the heli damaged rather than instantly dropping out of the sky. They either need to change the AA or reduce the amount of squads that have AA it doesnt matter what but something has to change.

but that is a problem, the mission-editor has to take care of.
nothing the devs can do anything about.

Mass closing ancient tickets with no activity for > 12 months; assume fixed or too trivial.

If this issue is still relevant in current dev build, please re-post.
