Can't hear my own gun shoot.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

For quite awhile now I have been unable to hear my own gun shoot, I can hear the bullets hitting etc, and other weapons shoot, but I can't hear my own.

I've tried reinstalling the game multiple times, creating a new profile etc.

The headset i'm using is the PDP Afterglow.

I've looked everywhere for a solution, but all the suggestions don't work, so far.

I have the same exact issue and have posted on it. I use the PDP Afterglow headset, as well, but my friends say that they use the Turtlebeach X12. They also say that they can hear their weapon shoot fine. Considering that Arma 3 uses an upgraded sound engine, I am beginning to think that the PDP Afterglow headset is not compatible, in some way, with it.

But, if the headset isn't compatible, wouldn't that make it so that nothing could be heard?

is it in MP or everytime? its a known MP issue

Also, on the note of the headset not being compatible, I used a fairly old (Microsoft LifeChat LX - 3000) which worked fine.

then its MOST LIKELY the headset wich for some reason wont work with the shots fired, does it reproduce the enemy/friendly shots? does it reproduce player shots in MP?

and have you tried changing the Sound settings? (sound channels, what kind of audio, etc.)

I can hear all shots except my own, and I've changed the sound settings quite a bit, but it hasn't worked, would there be something specific that I may of missed with them that I need to change, maybe?

maybe compatibility, its very weird that no matter what you can hear EVERYTHING BUT your own gun shots

These would have to be fairly new though, as I can use them for things such as the Wii U (Which was released in 2012), so i'm not quite sure how it's incompatible, but it is bearable. Thanks for your help, dude.

u'r very welcome, hope you can fix this in the future

I'm using a pair of Skullcandy Plyr 1's and I have the same problem where I can hear everything but my gun shots. However I don't have any problems in Arma 2 just in Arma 3. I really hope they fix this problem cause it's affecting everyone with wireless headsets.

Having the same issue. Using a PDP afterglow headset as well. Tried verifying cache through steam, uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing seems to work.

I use an hp pavilion slimline s5-1414,runnig windows 8 with 16gb ram, 3.4 ghz core i3 processor, and an nvidia gt 640 gpu.

Hi All, I am also a user of the PDP Afterglow and I am experiencing the same problem. It is now early 2014, does this mean that the problem is still outstanding or has it now been resolved and I need to change some part of my installation?

Thx in advance.

Hello everybody.

I believe I have a solution for all AfterGlow headset users.

It seems that the USB wireless function of the headset has a problem receiving the individual's gunshot sounds.

Here is a fix that has worked flawlessly:

Now, all of the USB adapters have a 3.5 mm jack on the back of them.

Plug that into the green audio port in the back of your case.

When that is done, if you have any confirmation on screen, click to use it as a speaker (don't worry if you don't see anything)

Next go to "Control Panel">"Hardware and Sound">"Sound"

Then click on the "Playback" tab.

Lastly, select the new speaker device that should've appeared and set it as the default. You might also want to disable the standard AfterGlow USB device in there too.

I am having this same problem with skullcandy plyr 2 headset. Can hear everything but my own gun.

Is this resolved? I don't think it's a game bug.
