AI drivers can't maintain same average speed in any column formation type, so the movement of any column of vehicles on the road looks like "iterative". Vehicle accelerates until it nearly runs into the next vehicle, then it slows down not to run into next vehicle or an obstacle and stops, then accelerates again. It doesn't depend on whether there are different types of vehicles in the convoy or the same.

Make a convoy of 3+ vehicles in editor and assign them a waypoint with any "column" formation type.
