Heal action symbol blocks view
Reviewed, WishlistPublic

Description

I just played a PvP mission today and I was zoomed in on an enemy player when I got hit and the "Treat self" default action symbol came up immediately and obstructed my aim sight.

IDEA:
Do not show the default action icon while scoped/aiming. Default action should trigger still (e.g. open door) while aiming down the sights, but the icon shouldn't come up. OR only make the 'Treat self' action a special case, not to show up while scoped/aiming. {F20038} {F20039}

Steps To Reproduce
  • place player unit e.g. with ACOG optics
  • aim at a stone or something
  • execute 'player setDamage 0.3'
  • * symbol (default action 'Treat self') comes up immediately
  • depending on weapon sway it may happen that the * symbol overlaps exactly the spot where you're aiming
Additional Information

You can scroll actions and right-click to remove the symbol, but if you're doing a shoot out in PvP (or also against the AI), every second counts.

I also don't think this should be argued for as "pain effect, hindering you to react properly" - this should be done in terms of PP effects (as it is already done to some extent). :-)

I agree.
Action icons should be hidden while in Optics.

To fix this, why not add this part of the "HUD" to the customize you layout option so a player can choose were he wants this to show.

Well, I like my icons where they are now, so adding a layout customization option for that would not be the perfect solution.

/upvoted the ticket, but I don't really like ProGamer's idea

What? It would be like this by default but players could change its location.

What solution would you have in mind, so it doesn't obstruct the player's view?

I was thinking of this, good ticket @Fireball.

How about moving the icon while aiming?
