Ranging using the "Command Mode" too accurate
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In Recruit and Regular difficulties, you can use the "Command Mode" to get an exact range to a certain spot. In real life it is much harder to accurately judge a distance.
I suggest changing this too steps like "<50m", "<100m", "<200m", or "~300m". Something that gives the player an idea of the distance, but still requires an item like the rangefinder to be absolutely accurate. {F19983}

I agree. I came same conclusion few days back when ordering infantry and started to feel bad from their commands "Move back" etc.

I wish that the scale would be:

5
10
15
30
50
75
100
150
200
300
400
500
700
1k
1.5k
2k
....

It would be nicer to command and get information in more logical and expected
ranges than "Move to that rock 52 meters from here".

CJ, shoot that train 664 meters bearing 240!

Just a clarification, the ticket is specifically about the fact that you see the exact range on the HUD when using command mode, not about the fact that the actual commands contain weird distance descriptors. (although that is a problem too)

Mass closing ancient tickets with no activity for > 12 months; assume fixed or too trivial.
