I would like to suggest the Israeli Spike-LR Missile as a new antitank missile launcher system.
The Spike-LR is a fourth generation man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile with tandem-charged HEAT warhead, developed and designed by the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and in service with a number of nations.
As well as engaging and destroying targets within the line-of-sight of the launcher with "fire-and-forget" mode (infrared guidance), the Spike-LR is also capable to be fired in manual mode through a "fire, observe and update" via a onboard camera placed in the missile warhead and linked with the CLU by a fiber-optic wire. the missile using top attack trajectory.
The main advantage of this system is the NLOS (Non line of Sight) capability. the shooter has the possibility to engage targets located behind reliefs (hills, mountains) and to update the missile flight in real time.
Spike-LR specs :
- weight of the complete system : 14 kg (30 lb 14 oz),
- maximum range : 4,000 m (13,000 ft)
- used by infantry and light combat vehicles.
- Infrared or/and camera fiber optic guidance.
- armour penetration : 700 mm (28 in) of Rolled homogeneous armour (RHA).
