LOD popping is quiet distracting for most Objects in the game. Especially the trees. Is it possible to use a Fade technique instead? i.e. Fade in/out a LOD switch over 5 seconds. I have seen some systems use a technique of loading both LODs during transitions i.e. Fading out the Old LOD and fading in the New LOD over the top of each other. Yes it does have a performance hit but it is very effective at hiding LOD switching.
