Arma 3 Alpha has stopped working [Failed launch]

Description

Arma 3 Alpha does not launch, Windows reports error before Arma 3 logo appears. "Arma 3 Alpha" folder is never created in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\ so those files do not exist.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Run Steam (administrator)
  2. Play Arma 3 Alpha with options: a. Play Arma 3 Alpha b. Launch in windowed mode
  3. "Arma 3 Alpha has stopped working"
Additional Information

I have recieved this error with both Arma 3 Alpha, and Developer game versions. (Current information applies to Developer game version).

Things i've tried:

  1. Launch Commands a. -nobenchmark b. -winxp
  2. Developer Mode
  3. Disable firewall
  4. Disable all Anti-virus software
  5. Updated Drivers a. Nvidia latest WHQL driver b. Realtek HD Audio Driver
  6. Reinstalled game twice
  7. Verify integrity of game cache multiple times
  8. Deleted steam folder ..\Steam\appdata then restarted

I do not run Zone-Alarm

Are you launching through Play withSIX? I've been unable to launch through it lately, with the same symptoms as you, but it launches fine through steam alone.

I've only tried launching through Steam. I don't have SixLauncher installed on this machine.

Okay! Found a fix for my issue.
I was running DirectX 10, however my graphics card supports DirectX 11
I'm running Vista, and the download for the 32bit version of DirectX 11 is posted below.

Wrong DirectX. Solved after update to DirectX 11.
