Very High textures and POM should not be bundled together. (video option)
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Please note that this is not a duplicate of the terrain transforming thread. That deals with the render distance of the POM whereas my concern here is the performance of having this graphic asset forced on with Very High textures.

The highest resolution textures are a standard option used most and often above all else.
The difference in quality between High and Very high is easily apparent in A3 with much more crisp textures, however the video option is also tied with the Parallax Occlusion Mapping effect on terrain and as a result EVERYONE must run this option.

On lower range video cards this feature can be very demanding, making Very High far more of a hog than it should be and if performance is indeed a focus then POM really should be its own tick box or option.

Go into Video options and flick between High and Very High textures, examine the changes based frame rates pending environment. The effect will be less noticeable by those with higher end video cards.

Actually it is bundled with terrain? You can have ultra texture without parralax mapping if you set terrain to standard.

But I agree, it sahould not be bundled with terrain etc, should be enabled or disabled by checkbox, and if possible, also configurable.
