AI driver doesn't turn the engine off when not moving
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

It happens to AI cars, as well as when player is a gunner or a passenger. It happens to cars in group and lone vehicles. Issuing stealth (silent) mode order doesn't help.

One repeatable observation about the frequency or cause of this behaviour is that the leading car in a group suffers the issue, while subordinate vehicles turn their engines off after a short waiting. Lone vehicle doesn't turn the engine off, like if he was a leader of a nonexistent group.

Steps To Reproduce

Editor:

  1. Place a car, player as gunner.
  2. Place another car, close to the first, so they are linked in one unit.

Ingame:

  1. Tell your driver to go, with W key or a mouse command.
  2. After a short drive, tell him to stop with S key.
  1. Observe, that after a while the second car turns off the engine, while your is still idling.
Additional Information

It's annoying, when setting an ambush or a firing positions and the idling engines give our position away, mask the sounds of enemy movement and burn the fuel, which may be scarce in some missions.
