Game freezes when moving, roughly 5 minutes into the game. The game stutters, then freezes and then is playable after a Windows 'install device' sound is heard!

It seems you have a local problem. Some (virtual) device didnt work correctly. So you hear that sound. Maybe you have to take a look in your hardware devices or local errorlogs.

You are correct I isolated the issue to a faulty controller!

Closing as no bug since it was external hardware problem.
