Artifacts and very high GPU temperature when playing at night
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

As of the latest update I'm having some severe graphical issues. However, those will only occur when it's dark/night time in the game. The game will produce lots of graphical artifacts (tiny white lines and squares). Alt-Tabbing out of the game and checking my GPU temperature (via SpeedFan) revealed a significant increase in GPU temperature as compared to playing at daytime (about 85°C, which means +6°C ).

Switching back into the game produces what you can see in the attached screenshot permanently.

While I know that this might also be an hardware issue not related to Arma 3 at all, the suddenness of its occurrence and the fact that it only happens under those very special circumstances (and only in Arma3) might be reason enough for the Arma devs to look into it.

The game runs very smooth and without any issues at all when playing at daytime on very high details for me. I also haven't noticed this happening before the latest update (though it may have been there before) {F18504}

I have not been able to reproduce artifacts and very high GPU temperature with the developement build yet. However, alt-tabbing out of the game (at night) will always give me what you can see in the screenshot when I return to the game. I then have to start a daytime mission again to make this "effect" disappear.

I can confirm this occuring every time I play at night. It can only be fixed by switching nighvision on and off again, or restarting the mission at daytime.

I have the stable version running.

I've also raised a issue for that 'white screen' after Alt-Esc and returning to game. I also see artifacts here and there but I hadn't raised it yet. And come to think of it, it's often when playing at night, or dusk.

I'm running a ATI 6950 GPU.

Thinking about upgrading that before the final Arma3 release though.
