A lot of reporters fail to search before reporting, allowing us to mark as duplicate will help the developers so when they fix an issue they can close all the duplicates too without wasting time searching for them.

It helps even if you just write a comment saying "duplicate" and a link to the issue that was duplicated. Many people are already doing this and it does help a lot. ;)
