Lowered-weapon stance after closing the map
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When in combat, looking at the map and then closing it, it sets the lowered-weapon stance for the character. This is a bit irritating because I am forced to click the mouse to set the character to ready-to-fire stance. Few times I actually fired by mistake.

I know, there has to be some "punishment" in opening the map as in real life you would have to hold it in your hands and put the weapon away. But it would be better if it automatically switched from lowered-weapon stance back to ready-to-fire stance once map closed (but only if the character had that stance before opening the map)

Steps To Reproduce
  1. put your character to ready-to-fire stance (possibly just crouched or standing)
  2. open the map
  3. close the map
  4. character is now in lowered-weapon stance and doesn't go away unless clicking the mouse
Additional Information

It should automatically switch back to the "weapon-readiness" stance the character had before opening the map (with the animation of course)

That doesn't mean the guy can shoot immediately after closing the map. There has to be the animation from weapon-down to weapon-ready as a punishment, but it should take place automatically without need of clicking the mouse button.

(made the sentence clearer)

The same thing occurs after climbing a ladder I think (as it did in Arma II). This also could be polished similarly.

I agree with this. You run a little slower with a lowered weapon (as far as I can tell) so that's another negative impact caused by this.

This issue also generates a small animation glitch:

After leaving the map, in 3rd person view, the player is crouched with his left arm out (as if taking gear). When you then start to move forwards, the character instantly changes to the regular crouched stance before then standing and moving forwards. Looks ugly! There's no continuity or fluidity in the movement. In first person view there's also a noticeable sudden 'jump' in the view as you begin to move.

downvoted, if you have a map in your hands there is no way of putting the map away and finding your weapon already in your arms ready to fire.

when normally you would have to pick your weapon back up and then aim.

@tyl3r99: you misunderstood me. I don't want the guy to have a weapon ready at the pricise moment the map is closed, I just want the animation from weapon-down to weapon-ready happen automatically once I close the map and not making me to do the necessary action to raise the weapon back again manually (by clicking the mouse).

So it doesn't mean you can fire immediately, the animation still has to take place, I only suggest it to be automatical (in case I had the weapon ready before opening the map).

I just want to remove the need of clicking the mouse button.

ahhh I understand now, my apologies redhead_cz
