Create a mission with 2x cars manned and grouped.

Order one car to stay put on a road. Tell the other car to move past that car, expecting it to overtake.

The moving car will just drive full speed into the back of the still car and just spend the next minute or so revving into the back until it eventually gives up on the order.

Additional Information
  • This existed in ArmA 2
  • AI obviously has it's issues when it comes to the efficiency of avoiding obstacles but for most part it works and will make some effort to slow down/stop and drive around them.
  • This does not effect grouped infantry, which the grouped vehicle will still display the behaviour of slowing down and carefully driving around them.
  • Removing one vehicle from the group and telling the other to move past it up the road will see it drive around it as expected.

Try driving in a formation across a field. Very soon at least half of the vehicles will be disabled because of hitting the rocks and trees. Like if the drivers were blind.

Positions in a formation shouldn't be so strict and should allow for some room to maneuver.

AI driving and collision avoidance has been tweaked in the last months. Consider fixed.
