Combat stance indicator
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In switching thro the various paces my character can be moving at, I find it very difficult to figure out which combat stance I'm in sometimes. E.G. run/walk toggle on, combat stance toggle off, and spriting(aka turbo). Which stance am I in when I come out of turbo? I don't remember?

Using the run/walk toggle, swimming, turbo, and combat stance toggle

Additional Information

Just a simple UI enhancement. I lose track of which combat stance I'm in and has resulted in me simply not using the feature

Not Necessary in my opinion.

Not needed imo either. Less is more. Learn by practising.

Please make it optional if you actually go ahead with this so the rest of us can have a clean screen.

Just because you think it's not necessary doesn't mean others don't. It is actually some times hard to figure out what positions you're in if you're in if you use first person only.

I voted yes for this. This should definitely be an option to appear in your screen.

simply make it an option at the least it will aide in the learning curve of the game to have it then eventually people will turn it off...

Hold alt, look down.

Not necessary & won't happen. This is ArmA, not Ghost Recon or any other Tom Clancy title boys and girls.

You can look down to get an idea.

A tips: if you have a mouse with several buttons you can do as i do. Add looking around (left Alt) to one thumb button and the stance modifier (left Ctrl) to the second thumb button. Very easy and fluid action that way.

Stance indicator: When i get up to a cover and i need to be just so i can shoot over it - i adjust to the height of the cover. I have no need at this point to look at a stance indicator to know when im in cover since i see that visually, and only i can know if im in perfect cover. An indicator wont tell me that.

The trick: Dont forget that the main stance buttons (Z and X) will bring you to any of the 3 main stances instantly. You only use the stance modifier when you need cover which you visually see. After you've been in cover press "X" and you will get to a standing stance and you can run away or press "Z" to quickly lay down. "X" toggles standing and crouching without the stance modifiers "in between" stances.

When you know this you will see that a stance indicator is pretty superfluous. ;)

blablabla Alex, duplicate of another thread with 45votes for YES....

superfluous ??? but present in ACE mod and yes for sure everybody have a big mouse with multiple buttons etc etc...... so pathetic your response. Please be a little smart

In reality, it's not necessary because i can turn my head with freedom and in anytime
in game, i must press a key, press another key for move my head, another for up and down or left and right etc.. my head, not realistic at all

Yes a stance indicator is necessary. it's all.

No need for that language. And you can add look to a mouse thumb button (most mouses today - small normal ones have thumb buttons) if you dont have track-ir. Personally as i said is that i can see if im low or high from the ground. And with a bit of playing im sure you will too.

Im all for an optional stance indicator.
