I was the medic of the team and was holding my 9mm pistol, I tried healing a fellow teammate but it didn't work (this was multiplayer). The animation did start, but after half a second it stopped and the person was not healed. This carried on for at least 10 times.
After switching to my rifle and healing again it worked.
