Game crash while launching from steam or the main directory file.

Description

Arma 3 for me is unplayable, whenever I attempt to launch the game from anything, even as an administrator the game will crash. When I attempt to run Arma 3 the logo appears and loads about 75% of the way, it than goes to a black screen and exits out of the window and refuses to load. It than creates an application that sticks in the application manager that I have to manually close to attempt to restart the game. {F16897} {F16898}

Stop posting DxDiags and crash dumps as text Attach them instead... it's gonna be a mess like this and for sure wont help devs collecting informations

I use steam to launch the game and I would have to say that my game would crash during the initialization process every 4-5 times I try and start the game. Runs great after it starts up though.

Yesterday I would get a black screen then it would revert to the desktop. Today it would be a black screen and then it worked.It did take unusually long, about 5 minutes. I opened it from steam about five times and finally I left it for a while and it worked.

Update: it takes a while to open regardless of how many times I run it.

On Windows 8, crash traces (AKA backtraces) are now saved in the background and found within Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Event Logging (and likely will be within the subcatagory of Errors).

I have opened Bug #0002456 suggesting this also be included within the How To http://feedback.arma3.com/how-to-user.html.html page, and as a coder, I find trace backs essential and easiest method to diagnosing crashes.

I also see the supposedly forementioned crash bug, as I tried running the game through the Windows SDK debugger for fun or in hopes of finding and reporting more bugs with better information.

I don't know. I never had a crash as I can recall in Windows 7 during the short usage I had with it before moving to Windows 8. Windows XP used to perform dump traces for sure.

I'm starting to wonder, in order for a dump trace to occur, the programmer needs to pull in an external lib/function for this feature to happen. Although, I've seen others here post dumps or back traces. :-/

Just encountered several crashes/segfaults throughout the past few hours here too. Shrugs, with the numberous apparently reproducible crashes I've seen, I would think many already have the info they need.

I also speculate, on multiplayer servers, admins are kicking and causing some of the spurious crashes... as usual.

Please try use -nobenchmark command line option.

Right click on Arma III in your Steam Library>Properties>Set launch options

Can you try kill all unnecessary application before start Arma?
