Arma 3 Alpha (Steam) crashes immediately on launch
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The loading screen appears and the goes to a black screen then crashes leaving a message along the lines of "The graphics card has stopped responding and has crashed"

I'm not sure if this is a game error due to it being an Alpha, or if it is because my PC is quite low spec and the graphics card is only an Intel HD chipset :P {F16807} {F16808}

Happened to me more than twice. Windows 8 64-bits.

We need dxdiag and files from this folder for solve your problem. C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3 Alpha\

Can you upload somewhere in winrar package please?
When package will be smaller than 5,000k, so you can attach here. Thank you.

I need a screenshot of Dxdiag and driver version, I want to update my driver but im afraid I will get crash :[

Attached the RAR file. However, the folder I navigated to only contained only one file named "arma3.rpt".

Suggestion to solve this issue: up the minimum specs for graphics card and remove intel HD integrated graphics to prevent ppl with them from trying to launch this game, this is just ridiculous... HD integrated graphics are only there to let ppl reproduce movies in HD.. THEY WERENT MEANT FOR PLAYING GAMES!

EDIT: But for ppl with reasonably high performance pcs i would add myself to this list, sometimes when joining a server my arma 3 crashes. Next time it happens ill make sure to upload stuff u need about the crash

EDIT2: uploaded arma 3 alpha folder from AppData\Local, dxdiag info and event log about all arma 3 crashes i had since its release.

Don't attach crashdumps from crashes, which don't correspond with this report please. For crash with different repro steps create new report please.

Now I need know, which rar is for this report.

The RAR file is mine, not the 7zip one.

I checked your rpt file. Can you please start without command parameters?
one command parameter is wrong, correct is -nosplash and not -noslpash.

Can you try -nobenchmark command?

I originally started without command parameters and got the same crash even with those parameters. I corrected the spelling of -nosplash and added -nobenchmark. This resulted in the game hanging on a black windowed screen.

I tried again with only the -nobenchmark and -windowed parameters which resulted in the same hang on the black screen.

I then tried with only the -nobenchmark parameter which resulted in a fullscreen blackscreen hang.

Can you please attach your dxdiag? I didn't find it in package.

Can you try kill all unnecessary application before start Arma?

DxDiag uploaded, forgot to add it earlier.

Closed all background applications and managed to get it running. Unplayable at first (1-2FPS) but tweaked all the settings to absolute minimum and I can run it at 5-10FPS which is nothing out of the ordinary for me!

I'm afraid, that your pc does not minimum requirements.
You need DirectX 10 card.

System Requirements
Minimum:

OS:Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
Processor:Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
Memory:2 GB RAM
Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM
DirectX®:10
Hard Drive:10 GB HD space
Sound:DirectX®-compatible
Recommended:

OS:Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
Processor:Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
Memory:4 GB RAM
Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better
DirectX®:11
Hard Drive:20 GB HD space
Sound:DirectX®-compatible

Closing, since PC does not meet minimum spec. Problem cannot be fixed.
