Higher end AMD platform mostly unplayable
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When having any villages in sight, performance drops to completely unplayable from ULTRA to LOW settings although lowering does help. CPU usage only 30% during this, single core at around 70-80%.

Performance is not satisfactory even when villages not in sight, although not a complete dia-show.

The problem is even worse on a 40-player Wasteland server for example. It's a constant diashow at 20fps and worse, only when youre aiming at your feet the performance is acceptable.

Maybe it's issue with Physx since AMD CPU's are weaker and if you have AMD GPU they also have to calculate physx.
Is there any way to turn off physx to test this?

Such reports are pointless, for us it works fine too in certain scenarios.
Try to testing it in Multiplayer wits lots of players / ai or the helicopter showcase mission.
And you dont have AMD CPU.

So far from what i've seen a trend of it working a lot better on Intel processors.

It dosen't work well on multi GPU set-ups/cards

Only 4 cores max are being used.

Nearly everyone is having performance problams thus far without a 3770K/670 it seems.

I have a system with a 1090T/7870 too, but is not my primary gaming rig so not installed on there currently... Will check and report back.

I am having pretty bad performance issues as well. I am averaging 12 fps on single player and multiplayer. below are system specs

FX6100 6 core bulldozer 3.3 ghz
12 GB 1600 RAM
GTX 660 TI
Gigabyte UD3 MOBO
7200 RPM HDD

i have the same issue but my 7970 is only getting to 40% activity

If lowering your settings does not help, then you are CPU limited.

If any single core > 80% usage, then you are CPU limited.

If you have vsync on and you haven't reached your FPS cap, or you have it disabled, and your GPU usage is < 95%, then you are CPU limited.
