During the infantry showcase the squad leader will sometimes give you a target that is on the other side of a hill.

During the vehicle showcase, every time I attempted to get near the base to steal the vehicle, I was spotted almost instantly. I was usually behind a rock, completely out of sight, and then the alarm would raise, and every enemy in the vicinity would converge on me.
