Critical Issue with Vehicle Acceleration Inputs When Using Controller
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

I’ve encountered a significant issue related to vehicle acceleration input commands, specifically when using a controller (in my case, an Xbox controller). It appears that vehicles consistently default to using the "fast acceleration" input, regardless of whether the corresponding keybind "Right Bumper (RB)" is being pressed.

This is particularly problematic for my DayZ server, where vehicles are heavily utilized and configured in a variety of ways. The unintended acceleration behavior is affecting gameplay and usability for myself and the broader player base.

I haven’t submitted a bug report before, but the impact of this issue compelled me to do so. I’d greatly appreciate it if this could be investigated and addressed as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter!

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Launch DayZ and connect to a server (ideally one with vehicles configured).
  1. Plug in an Xbox controller and ensure it’s active.
  1. Enter a vehicle.
  1. Accelerate using the normal input (do not press the fast acceleration keybind, RB in this case).
  1. Observe that the vehicle accelerates as if the fast acceleration key is being held, even though it is not pressed.
Additional Information

Tested with an Xbox Elite 2 controller on PC.

Custom keybind for fast acceleration is set to Right Bumper (RB).

Issue persists regardless of vehicle type.

Vehicles behave normally when using keyboard inputs.

Server is heavily vehicle-configured with custom settings, but issue occurs even on default settings.

Running DayZ version 1.28 which is the version that was released on June 3, 2025

Additional Controller Keybinding Issue – Input Duplication and Order Reversal

Upon further investigation, I've discovered another issue related to controller keybindings. When attempting to assign a combination of two inputs to a single action, for instance "A Button + Dpad Down" the game incorrectly registers and displays the binding as "Dpad Down + A Button + A Button."

This not only reverses the intended input order but also duplicates one of the buttons, making the keybind inaccurate and potentially non-functional. This behavior significantly complicates custom control schemes and undermines usability for players who rely on advanced input combinations.

Hello TJSlayer10 and thank you for the report.
Currently there is no propper controller support for the PC version of DayZ, therefore such issues can possibly occur.
