Hello Bohemia Interactive team,
I'm reaching out as a console player who has spent a significant amount of time testing and analyzing controller input behavior across a wide range of first-person shooters, including Arma Reforger and DayZ.
During testing, I’ve discovered that your current controller aiming system appears to have an unusually large minimum input threshold (approximately 20% stick deflection) before any camera movement begins.
This has major implications for aiming precision and responsiveness — particularly when attempting to track targets in close- to mid-range combat. Many modern shooters such as Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and Fortnite allow players to fine-tune deadzones down to 5%, enabling much more natural and accurate stick control.
I’m building a cross-game aim consistency tool for controller players that uses measured stick deflection and player movement speeds to preserve muscle memory between games. Arma’s and DayZ’s large deadzone makes it very difficult to achieve smooth aim transition between titles — even for seasoned players using Hall Effect stick hardware.
With that in mind, would you consider:
Exposing a fully functional deadzone slider (that truly starts at 0%)
Or reducing the minimum input threshold to improve fine control?
I’d be happy to share video recordings, stick deflection data, and a visual comparison with other games if helpful.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to improve the console experience. Your games are truly unique and immersive, and it would mean a lot to see controller support receive the same attention.
Sincerely,
Ghost-Vector83
