Since the 1.27 update, I’ve encountered a serious issue that did not exist in previous versions of DayZ. Every time I die and respawn, my character starts rubberbanding heavily – it feels like I’m “ice skating” or sliding uncontrollably. My movement appears desynced from the server, and it makes the game unplayable until I completely relog.
This issue does not resolve itself over time like it does for some other players, who seem to recover after 30–60 seconds. In my case, only a full reconnect fixes it – until I die again and the problem returns.
I’ve tested this across multiple servers (modded and vanilla) with different pings (40–120 ms). The issue is worse on high-ping servers but still present on low-ping servers as well.
Relevant observations from the 1.27 patch:
"Fixed: Synced player stats of int type is always 0 on client" This change may be related. It's possible that after respawn, the character's synced stats (like stamina or health) are still temporarily out of sync with the server, which causes the server to repeatedly correct the client’s position — resulting in rubberbanding. A full relog forces proper resync and resolves the issue. "Players with unstable connection are frozen to prevent exploits (e.g. lag switching)" This new mechanic to counter lag-switch abuse may be misidentifying normal connection delays — especially after death — as instability, leading to the server freezing or throttling the player's movement unintentionally. That would explain the “ice skating” effect and movement restriction after respawn.
