Request for Action on Fake Servers Affecting DayZ Community Servers
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Dear Bohemia Interactive Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to raise a significant concern regarding the presence of fake servers in the DayZ server browser, which is severely impacting the balance and fairness of the community server ecosystem.

Issue Description:
Over the past months (or years), a growing number of fake servers have been registered and are flooding the server browser, particularly in community server listings. These servers, often registered under the same IP address or utilizing automated scripts, dominate the server list and effectively overshadow legitimate community servers.

This situation has led to the following issues:

Unfair Competition: Genuine community servers are being pushed down the list, making it nearly impossible for players to discover and join them.
Negative Player Experience: Players are often misled by these fake servers, which tarnishes the overall reputation of DayZ's multiplayer ecosystem.
Community Decline: Many server operators and dedicated community contributors feel demotivated due to this unfair competition, leading to a decline in active community servers.
Proposed Solutions:
To address this issue, I kindly request your team to consider the following measures:

Implement IP-Based Server Limits: Restrict the number of servers that can be registered under the same IP address to prevent mass registrations.
Enhanced Server Verification: Introduce stricter verification methods, such as validating server MODs or requiring unique identifiers, to ensure the authenticity of registered servers.
Improve Filtering Mechanisms: Allow players to better filter servers based on legitimacy and active player count, ensuring fake servers are less prominent.
Urgency of Action:
This issue has persisted for a considerable time and continues to escalate. Without intervention, it risks further discouraging community server operators and eroding player trust. I believe DayZ thrives on its strong community, and addressing this problem is vital to preserving that foundation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I genuinely appreciate the hard work your team puts into making DayZ an exceptional game. I am confident that your intervention can restore balance and fairness to the community server ecosystem.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards
