Eating snow is not really a threat noticed within 10 hours of play.

Snow should cause the player to freeze quickly after eating any amount.

Also, eating a Vitamin reduces gaining heavy metal poisoning. (Never noticed the affects but also didn't live longer than a few hours each life)
