With the 1.26 update changes were made to the weather on Livonia that I personally think devalues the unique take on the map with it having a higher chance of downpour, the trailer even mentions "frequent rainfall and severe thunderstorms".
Over the experimental phase, I've played a lot of Livonia as it's my favourite map but noticed rainfall lasting a couple of minutes and I've not encountered a single thunderstorm yet. Livonia this experimental feels warmer and the changes made have made me consider my clothing choice in a way that is different to Chernarus, I've started wearing lighter & less warm clothes to counter how warm my character can get but there is little threat from the drastic change with how quickly the weather can change on the map, I've managed to jog through the short rainfall without getting effected but to me it feels like the rainfall does not last long enough to truly effect the player negatively. I do understand the randomness of DayZ and it being an experimental phase but the map just feels off with constant sunny weather.
I did have a look at the weather.xml file and did notice that both maps have the same values for the rain section which may be an error but I think Livonia needs to have a higher chance of rainfall and for it to last longer (like how it was before but maybe not as extreme as it once was before). It being the same or close to the same as Chernarus doesn't offer much differentiation on the weather aspects of the maps.
So basically:
- Temps are great on both maps with them making the player choose their clothing choice more, Chernarus = warmer clothes, Livonia = not as warm clothes
- Increase the length of the rainfall.
- Differentiate the weather values on the two maps to feel unique like it was before.
With these changes I think this will keep in line with the design choice of Livonia being a warmer map that has more frequent rainfall/storms but will return the map to how it was with rain severely effecting the player if not handled well.
Cheers devs :)
