Connecting failed (0x00010001)

Description

Hello,

I have been playing DayZ just fine in the past but recently it has started giving me a "Connecting Failed (0x00010001)" error when trying to connect to a server. Official or community doesn't matter - the game is loading and just before it finishes it is showing the error and I cannot connect.

Also the server list is not loading at all sometimes in the launcher. I've tried pinging the server IP it's reachable:

> ping -n 5 195.82.158.109

Hello Rixerod.
Are you talking about our launcher or some third party one? Have you tried to reinstall the game? Are you connected by wire or wireless? And can you do a traceroute towards one of the servers?
Regards,
Geez

Hello Geez,

Thank you for looking into this.

I'm not using third party launchers, only the official one. My connection is a wired one. Here's the traceroute to the same IP from above (this is an official server IP):

> tracert -d 195.82.158.109

Tracing route to 195.82.158.109 over a maximum of 30 hops

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
  2 * * 1 ms 10.107.64.2

  8 30 ms 31 ms 30 ms 195.82.158.109

I've tried multiple solutions I found on the internet:

  1. Verified the game files and reinstalled the game multiple times.
  2. Delete the DayZ settings from Documents directory, re-lunch the game and tried to enter official server.
  3. Unsubscribed from all mods.

And combinations of the above, still no luck. The most frustrating thing is that the game works sometimes but in 9 out of 10 times is giving me the above error when I'm trying to connect to a server.

When it's not working, it's always the same - it's either the connection failed error when I"m trying to load into a server or the server list is not loading in the launcher at all and all my favorite servers are shown greyed out.

What about ingame server browser? does that one work?

After the error, the ingame browser is not showing any servers.

And before?

The in-game browser is behaving the same way as the launcher one.
But from my testing if I load the game first and use the in-game browser to join an official server or a community one without any mods - it works most of the times flawlessly. But if i'm using the launcher "join" button it doesn't so in my opinion something breaks when the launcher is actually running the game executable.

me too trying all way but not working.

Hey guys,

I think I've fixed it by completely reinstall the game after I cleaned up all DayZ and DayZ directories.

  1. Uninstall the game from Steam. Select all three check boxes in the DayZ uninstall window.
  2. Open File Explorer and enter into the address bar - %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local
  3. Find "DayZ" and "DayZ Launcher" directories and delete them. Those should be full of crash, mods and server log files which I think are slowing down the client during the connection to a server causing a timeout of some sort. (SPECULATION!)
  4. Open your Documents folder, find the "DayZ" directory there and delete it.
  5. Reinstall the game from steam and connect to an official server. Disconnect properly and exit the game.
  6. At this point I'm now able to connect to an official and or a community server without any issues or disconnects.

Hope that helps!
