If you fall unconscious with the map open, you can enter a state where you are unable to close the map. In this state, opening the game menu with ESC doesn't work.

Even if you regain consciousness, you will be unable to close the map. If you are Gamemaster, you will be unable to go into gamemaster mode. In Conflict, if you bleed out the respawn menu will have a bugged out UI, and after respawning you will once again spawn with an open map you cannot close.
