Directional Sound Bug
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When playing the game im pretty sure it thinks I got a 7.1 or 5.1 surround soud while playing on stereo headphones.

Sounds behind me are barely hearable and I can really only hear things that are right in front of me.

Didn't have that problem before, tried everything, reinstalling game and sounds drivers checking every windows setting, I know that everything outside the game is fine couse every other game sounds just normal compared to DayZ. Its sad that DayZ doesn't have a setting for stereo sound, wish that was a thing you could set/change.

As a video of reference I have the same issue this guy had and recorded it: https://youtu.be/ALatmG8IoOY?si=3JcAjY8fS57QsBEM

Hello Jumanji.
Can you please specify when did the issue start to occur?
Also, what are the headphones or speakers that you are using? Do you experience this with other videogames? Have you tried different versions of drivers to see if the problem possibly lies there?
Also can you try with different pair of headphones/speakers to see if it is a problem with that specific model?

Hello Geez,

I really noticed it like a week ago but got into it yesterday trying to fix it.
I am using HyperX Cloud Alpha headset.
I do not experience this problem in any other game but DayZ.
I have tried different versions of drivers, they are not the problem.
Tried different headphones, they are not the problem either.

Its like DayZ would be set to 5.1 surround sound, tried changing stereo to 5.1 surround in CSGO and get same results like in DayZ right now (sounds behind are very quiet), but in CSGO I have an option to go betwen 5.1, 7.1, stereo etc. in DayZ I don't have that option.
Can I force the game to be in stereo somehow or is there a hidden setting or whatever?

Downgraded Windows 11 to Windows 10, formatting everything at the same time.
Sounds are perfectly normal now (game is in stereo), still don't know what was causing the issue that game was forcing 5.1.
