In-Game Chat/Mic not working. (all mic and sound settings checked.)
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Good evening, I am making this ticket because I have come across and issue while playing DayZ on the PC. I'm not sure if you call this a bug or not but I could not think of anything else it would be called. Since June 6th, 2023 I have been playing on a community server and I got off and when I got on the next time, I was unable to speak in game. because my mic wasn't registering. I could hear everything in game perfectly fine just couldn't speak to anyone mic wasn't registering anything I said. I made sure all my setting for audio on my PC were connected correctly. I also made sure that my input and output audio was connected to the correct headset and mic were selected. The reason I think it maybe a bug is because my headset/mic works on all my other game, discord, PC Xbox App. I also tired uninstalling DayZ and reinstalling it as well and still didn't work. I also tried going into other servers and even going on normal default servers. I have also tried other headset/mics and still didn't work.

Hello retrobobby69.
Have you tried to verify the game data through Steam? Have you tried to uninstall all modded content, verify and then try this on an official server?
Also, have you tried to do a clean install of your audio drivers?

I have tired doing what you have recommended but with no luck. My mic still doesn't work in Dayz.

HI I have fond the fix. So for me the problem ocurred when I upgraded my windows from 10 to 11. The fix for me was uninstall video card drivers and sound card drivers. After that you have to Reset (not restart) the pc. To do that: In search box write "Reset my PC" after that you press "Reset PC". Choose to keep all the files, when it is done, reinstall the drivers for videocard and audio and it worked for me. I was not having sound since november 2022. But I tested it last night and people could hear me,also the " ) ) " at the in game mic appeard. Pardon my english ! :))

Hi there, I'm having this same issue. When you talk in-game, do you see the mic icon?

So a bit of correction, after further test it turned out it wasn't the Windows update, but rather Razer Cortex. When you choose System Boost-Scan-Clean it will mess your michrophone in DayZ not sure why. But for me this was the issue. I fixed it by Reseting the PC (reinstall windows).

Hello I have been having this same issue for over a year...yes I upgraded to 11bfrom 10. And I have used cortex. Should I Uninstall both vid and audio divers 1st b4 reinstalling?? And also I use a razor mouse. I take it to not use cortex at all...just synapses l??

You can try. I did a Windows re-install instead of just uninstalling Cortex. I don't think uninstalling the audio drivers would do anything, but if after uninstalling Cortex doesn't work, then you can try reinstalling the audio drivers.

Yeah I have had no app permission on dayz since last year and have tried countless different ways to get it to work...this seems to be the only option.

Just updating... I can confirm a fresh install was the fix for me...something that makes the driver not allow permissions to mic was corrupt or missing after a razor cortex system clean. Or upgrading from 10 to 11. Was the issue witch I did both around the same time....

Doubt it was from upgrading to w11, I've had this problem for years before I did a clean install even when Windows 10 was the latest version.
