To scout a town and move without having to kill zombies, I am used to throw different kind of objects (such as a single .22 round) to distract them and move. When I do so, the zombie focuses on the object landing, and completely ignores me when I run next to him and out of sight.
However, if I do the same where zombies are more aggressive (such as a military base), zombies will somehow go to the position I am at immediately after being done with the distraction (but with no follow). So I forced to do the following:
- Distract a zombie by throwing an object
- Move forward and cross the area the zombie was blocking
- Being forced to keep moving so the zombie will not come back to my new position
- Get spotted by an other zombie because you can't stop, start shooting, and die trying :p
Proposed behavior change: allow the zombie to enter back into its idle state once it is done with its sound checking (or at most in a random patrol pattern)
