Currently the direct chat voice volume is calculated by a mixture of the volume of effects and VON. For as long as I've been playing Arma 3 direct chat voice has been noticeably far too quite for convenient use, to the point where most if not all servers that rely on direct chat voice have implemented some form of user controlled fadeSound to dampen all sounds but direct chat voice.
The direct chat voice volume was updated relatively recently and instead of being completely controlled by effects, it was made to be a mixture of effects and VON, this causes another issue, to increase the direct chat voice volume you must also increase either the effects or VON volume, which in turn makes either direct chat voice too quiet or effects or VON too loud.
To me the solution is very simple, decouple direct chat voice volume from effects and VON and created a dedicated audio slider for it, this way direct chat voice can be adjusted completely independently from effects and VON and clients won't have to rely on servers to implement client controllable fadeSound to adjust their audio to their liking.
Thanks to anyone that reads this and an even bigger thanks if my suggestion get implemented, this has been bugging me for a while and I figured I'd finally get around to creating a thread for it.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
