Does this problem occur only on community servers or official as well? Also, have you tried to change the name to a longer/different one to see if that has any effect?

Hi @Geez,
Let me respond as I am the same person who created post(but on my friend PC).
Yes, it occured on community and official servers. But we were able to fix this problem. I set player name in Devious steam launching options and it fixed it (i used command "-name=YourName").
Still, i think this bug is something worth looking at because it is annoying thing that can prevent people from playing DayZ (and it is such a great game!).
