The radios in dayz aren't very usefull, you can only talk to players in a small distance, and the military one doesn't provide any additional advantage.
My sugestion is that a new frequency is added to the military radio, that can intercept SOS messages from the heli crashes, something like "Mayday mayday, we've been hit, (rockets hitting sound), I'm gonna try to land it, we are close to lembork... boom... tsssssssssssss(static sound)". Also, the military radio should work like a barrel or tent, addind a placing system for it and making it a persistent object like them. Maybe also intercepting the location of the gas artilery atacks...
